Eight countries taking part in Eurasian Dialogue forum in Brest

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Representatives of eight countries are participating in the Eurasian Dialogue scientific and educational forum in Brest. Its key topic is “Eurasia: Past, Present and Future Together”, BelTA has learned.

The event brought together about 50 delegates from Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The meeting in Brest was timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. “The participants of the forum that we have organized together with our partners are discussing projects that can be implemented in Brest Oblast. I hope that contacts will be built here and joint projects will be implemented in economy and humanitarian field,” said Roman Baranov, Director of the Center for the Development of Eurasian Communications.

The forum will be running for several days. The participants will discuss interaction in the Eurasian space, visit Brest State Technical University, the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex, and local enterprises. “We plan to tour enterprises that sell their products in the Eurasian space. The delegates are curious to see the production process with their own eyes, taste products, and establish contacts before they go back to their countries,” Roman Baranov added.

Brest Oblast Deputy Governor Mikhail Batsenko emphasized that Brest Oblast is open to fruitful cooperation in the economy and social field. The region is an attractive destination for foreign investors due to its favorable geopolitical location.

“This contributes to the robust development of transport infrastructure. Our region remains an undisputed leader in cargo transit, which benefits the development of logistics hubs. Currently, logistics services are provided by five modern transport and logistics centers. “We are leaders in utilizing capital investments. Over 30 years, their volume has increased almost fourfold,” said Mikhail Batsenko.

The deputy governor listed the advantages of Brest Oblast. One of its hallmarks is agriculture. The region excels in light industry, food industry, woodworking, production of building materials and batteries, metalworking. There are more than 1,800 industrial enterprises in the region. In addition to that, Brest Oblast has great potential in tourism.

“Brest Oblast actively participates in the work of the Eurasian Economic Union. An important area is inter-regional cooperation. Brest Oblast has concluded cooperation agreements with 29 regions of the Russian Federation, two regions of Kazakhstan, two regions of Uzbekistan, and one region of Armenia. The regional forums have been very useful in promoting cooperation,” Mikhail Batsenko emphasized. In the first quarter of 2025, the export to the EAEU countries accounted for 84.5% of the region's total exports. In addition to economic ties, the region works to build partnerships in education, culture, and sports, and joint projects are being implemented.
