April 9, Brest / Corr. BELTA/. In the Brest region, divers began to examine the waters of the beaches on the eve of the swimming season. Chairman of the regional organization OSVOD Vitaly Kulinich told a BELTA correspondent about this .
“Such work begins in April at the request of business entities that own beaches. Divers from OSVOD rescue stations inspect the water areas to prevent people from being injured when swimming and while relaxing near the water. By May 1, all beach water areas must be inspected,” - Vitaly Kulinich said.
From the bottom of reservoirs they pick up branches and snags, stones and broken bricks, bottles, glass fragments and other objects that may interfere with safe recreation. The work of divers is painstaking and is carried out manually. They examine meter by meter almost by touch. Specialists are dressed in special equipment that protects them from injury while working in water.
“Divers need to inspect approximately 100 bodies of water in the Brest region. Such work is already underway on 20 beaches. In the region, approximately 20-30 divers are engaged in inspecting water areas,” added the chairman of the regional organization OSVOD.
By the way, by the beginning of the current swimming season, four rescue posts are being created in the Brest region. A permanent one will open in the urban village of Domachevo, Brest district, three seasonal ones - on Lake Mulnoye in the Ivanovo district, a lake in the city of Mikashevichi, Luninets district, and the Gornovo-2 reservoir in the Pinsk district. In total, there are 34 OSVOD posts in the southwestern region.
