MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ harvest forecasts for 2025 were discussed during a round table on the planting season 2025 hosted by BelTA on 27 May. Nikolai Leshik, Head of the Plant Growing Directorate of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, shared the country’s plans for the harvest of grain, potatoes and beets this year.

“The grain harvest forecast is at about 11 million tonnes, including rapeseed. We set the task to get at least 1 million tonnes of potatoes and at least 300,0000 tonnes of vegetables,” the representative of the Agriculture and Food Ministry said.

According to Nikolai Leshik, stabilization funds help ensure the domestic market with quality food products. The Belarusian farmers will do their best to provide the country's residents with food products at affordable prices.

The head of the Plant Growing Directorate went on to say that in order to provide the domestic market with sugar, keep the export high and ensure four Belarusian sugar mills and factories work at full capacity, it is necessary to receive at least 5 million tonnes of sugar beet. “We plan to get about 5.1 million tonnes of sugar beet this year,” he added.
